About us

We are Viviana & Andrea, two sisters and daughters of a lifelong panadero  from Áraro, Michoacán, a small pueblo where bread is more than food; it is family, celebration, and tradition passed down through generations. We came to the U.S. very young, not knowing english, navigating school, and learning a new world while our parents worked tirelessly to build a better life for us.

Our father came with two dreams: to give his family opportunities he never had and to continue the bakery tradition of his own parents. We watched our parents make incredible sacrifices while working long hours, overcoming challenges, and pouring their hearts into a business they built from scratch. Their dedication taught us resilience, humility, and the value of hard work.

From a tiny bakery storefront in Michoacán to a new dream in the Midwest. Corazón & Canela is our way of honoring our parents’ journey and legacy.

Our story starts here: two sisters, a backyard in Michoacán, and a childhood filled with love.

We grew up waking to the sound of dough being kneaded before sunrise, the smell of cinnamon, and the warmth of the oven. Our childhood was filled with conchas, bolillo, and churros made with both heart and hands. We shared bread and pastries with family and neighbors, learning early on that food is more than nourishment, it is connection, memory, and love.

With Corazón & Canela, we carry their legacy forward. Every churro honors our roots, our father’s craft, and our Tita Concepción. As Latina entrepreneurs, we are proud to create something that represents our heritage while inspiring others in our community.

Corazón & Canela is a celebration of roots, resilience, and love. We are more than a business, we are a representation of our heritage and family.

Why Churros?

For us, churros are more than a dessert, they’re tradition, joy, and family wrapped in cinnamon and sugar. Growing up, churros were a treat that marked special moments.

In many Mexican families, especially with dads, love isn’t always spoken out loud — it’s shown. For our father, sharing food was how he said,Te quiero.” I love you. Every concha he baked before sunrise, every churro he handed us fresh and warm, was his way of reminding us that we were cared for.

Churros are the kind of food that brings people together instantly, a shared bag of churros passed between friends, a smile from a neighbor when you hand them one fresh from the fryer. By sharing churros, we are sharing love, a kind of love that’s felt in small, simple, unforgettable moments.

Each one carries the heart of our father’s work, the legacy of our Tita and the memory of a childhood filled with warmth, hard work, and the smell of fresh bread. Churros are our way of saying: this is who we are, and we invite you to celebrate with us.

What’s Next?

Our goal is to launch a professional mobile churro cart to use at local farmers markets and community events. This is our first step toward continuing this family legacy adding our own twist that celebrates perseverance and creates opportunities.

Our Vision

As Corazón & Canela grows, we hope to give back by collaborating with local businesses and events such the Fulton Street Market and the Return of the River Festival as well as organizations uplifting the Latino community. Our success will not only support our family but it will also help strengthen the community that inspires us.

Tita reminds us where we come from and why we do this. Corazón & Canela is for her, and for the community that raised us.
